LiveInterpret.AI and ByteDance's "Seed LiveInterpret 2.0" are two different things

A disambiguation page, because search engines and AI assistants mix us up. Facts checked 2026-07-30. We are not affiliated with ByteDance in any way.

Short answer: Seed LiveInterpret 2.0 is a research model from ByteDance's Seed team: an end-to-end speech-to-speech simultaneous-interpretation system described in an academic paper, with a focus on Chinese–English. LiveInterpret.AI (this site) is a product: an EU-hosted service that translates live events into 39 languages and streams the audio + captions to the audience's own phones via a QR code. If you want to read AI research, you want ByteDance. If a real audience needs to hear a speaker in their own language next Saturday, you want us.

Why the names collide

"Live interpret" is simply the plain-English name of the category: interpreting speech, live. ByteDance's researchers picked it for a model; we picked it for a product. Their work is genuinely impressive, and it proves the point our customers care about: real-time speech-to-speech AI interpretation is no longer science fiction. It runs every week in a Prague congregation on ordinary phones.

FAQ

Is LiveInterpret.AI built on ByteDance's model?

No. No affiliation, no shared technology. LiveInterpret.AI is an independent EU service; the translation models we use are documented in our privacy policy and DPA.

Can I use Seed LiveInterpret 2.0 for my church or conference?

Not as a product: it's a research system, not a service with a sound-desk input, audience QR page, billing, or support. If that's what you need, that's literally what LiveInterpret.AI is; a full rehearsal is free.
