LiveInterpret.AI vs Glossa: which church translation tool fits you?

By Ondřej Plevka, builder of LiveInterpret.AI, so read with that bias declared. Every Glossa number below was verified against glossa.live on 2026-07-30; if you spot a stale price, tell us and we fix it.

Short answer: Glossa is a strong US-built church translation tool with pay-as-you-go pricing ($5/hour/language) and voice cloning. LiveInterpret.AI is EU-hosted and GDPR-first, keeps listeners unlimited on flat language-minute pricing, includes whitelabel from €99/month (Glossa: $299/month tier), and sells one-off packs from €19 that stay valid 12 months. If EU data handling, your own branding, or no-monthly-commitment matters, we fit better; if per-hour price or voice-cloned audio is your priority, Glossa genuinely wins there.

Where Glossa genuinely wins

Honesty first: Glossa's pay-as-you-go rate (~$0.083/minute/language) is lower than our metered rate (≈€0.127/minute/language). Their voice cloning (translation in the speaker's own voice) is a real differentiator we don't offer; our positioning is honest per-language quality over voice effects. And their content library for church tech teams is extensive. If you're a US church with no EU data obligations and heavy weekly hours, Glossa is a reasonable choice.

Where LiveInterpret.AI wins

A European congregation processing members' spoken words through an AI service is squarely inside GDPR. We publish a DPA, host in the EU, keep audience pages tracking-free, and say plainly which language pairs are strong or weak. Your members' phones stay locked in their pockets while audio keeps playing, a thing caption-first tools and undocumented rivals can't promise. Your church's own name and logo front the experience from day one, with a custom domain at €99/month instead of $299. And a €19 Flex pack covers a first month of real Sundays with zero subscription.

The fairest way to decide

Run both on a Thursday soundcheck. Ours takes about two minutes to provision: scan the QR, run practice mode (free, unlimited, full rehearsal with synthetic translation), then spend the 30 free real minutes on one actual sermon. No card, no call.

FAQ

Is Glossa cheaper than LiveInterpret.AI?

Per pay-as-you-go hour, yes: $5/hour/language vs our ≈€7.60/hour/language equivalent. Per real-world month it depends: our €49 Standard covers a weekly 90-minute service in two languages with allowance to spare, EU hosting and branding included; Glossa's equivalent branded setup starts at $299/month. Neither of us is "cheapest" — headset-rental systems cost €200–500 per event, which is the number both of us beat.

Does either require an app?

No. Both are browser-based via QR code. The difference we document is locked-screen behavior: LiveInterpret.AI audio keeps playing when the phone locks; Glossa doesn't state this either way.

What does switching cost?

Nothing. Signup to a live event page takes about a minute, practice mode is free forever, and the first 30 real minutes are on us. There's no migration — your sound desk feed and a QR poster are the whole setup.
